Storehouses
Firms and Estate Managers

For clients of a firm

What it means to connect your account to an advisory firm or estate manager, what they can do, and how to stop it.

Your advisor's firm has asked to connect to your Storehouses account. Here is what that means.

What a firm can and cannot do

The firm sees your collection only at the permissions you grant when you approve the request — a preset such as Full management or Everything except heirs, or a custom set by capability and by collection. See Permissions. The firm cannot invite people into your account, change your estate plan unless you allowed it, or see values and locations you withheld.

Every action a firm member takes in your account is in your audit trail with their name and their firm.

Approving, suspending, revoking

The request appears in your app and by email. Approve with the permissions you choose; Deny to decline. Afterwards, Account → Access → Firms and advisers shows the relationship:

  • Suspend pauses the firm's access and keeps the relationship; Reactivate resumes it.
  • Revoke ends it. If your account is encrypted, this destroys the firm's sealed copy of your key immediately; reconnecting later starts again from a request.

If your account is encrypted

Approving a firm seals a copy of your account key to the firm's key on your device. The firm must have set up encryption first; if it has not, approval is refused and the firm is told why. Nothing readable about your encrypted fields is ever stored for a firm that has not been approved.

Several firms

You can connect more than one — an estate manager and an insurance broker, say — each with its own permissions. Each sees only what you gave it; none sees the others.
