Verification and Store Tags
Proof that an asset is still where it should be: NFC Store Tags, QR labels, manual checks, and the cadence that keeps the log honest.
Verification records that an asset was physically seen — by whom, how, and where. It is the difference between a list of what you own and evidence that you still own it.
Three ways to verify
| Method | How | What it proves |
|---|---|---|
| Tag scan | Hold an NFC-enabled phone to the asset's Store Tag, or scan its QR | Possession: the tag is cryptographically authenticated on every scan, so a scan cannot be faked or replayed |
| Manual check | Record a check on the asset or the location, optionally with a photo | That someone looked, on a date — recorded as such, with lower confidence |
| Condition | Capture's Condition mode | A check plus a dated statement of condition |
Every verification writes an event with the method, the confidence, the device, the location you were in and whether it matched the asset's recorded location, and — for tags — the tag's counter and tamper status.
Store Tags
Store Tags are NFC tags you attach to or keep with an asset. Each tag carries a secure element: every tap produces a one-time code the server checks, with a counter that detects cloning and a tamper flag if the tag has been removed. They work with NFC-enabled iPhones and Android phones; the QR printed on each tag works with any camera.
- Order from Protect → Verification → Order Store Tags — packs of 15 or 30, shipped within 3–5 business days.
- Assign a tag to an asset from the asset page's attention line, from the Verification tab's Unassigned tags list, or by tapping it with Capture's Verify tag mode and choosing the asset.
- Replace a lost or damaged tag; the history moves to the new one.
Cadence
Set how often assets should be re-verified — every 3, 6 or 12 months — and the Verification tab shows verified · due · never tagged with the list sorted by value. The location register shows each place's last inventory and flags it when overdue. The Re-verification due alert tells you before it slips.
Walkthroughs
Verifying a whole room is a walkthrough: open Capture, choose Verify tag, and tap each asset in turn. Each tap is its own event; the location's last-inventory date updates when you are done.
What a verification is worth
Tag scans are proof of possession and carry full confidence; manual checks are recorded as manual and weighted lower. Both appear in the asset's Activity, in the Verification tab's log, and in exports, so an insurer or an executor can see not just what you own but when it was last seen.
