Professionals
Connecting an outside firm — adviser, attorney, insurer, appraiser, broker — as a relationship, not a key.
A professional connection is a relationship, not a login. Connecting a firm records who they are and what they do for you; it grants them nothing until you assign specific work — an appraisal of three assets, the insurance pack for one location, read-only sight of the estate plan.
Connecting
Account → Access → Connect a professional. Name the firm, the discipline (adviser, attorney, insurer or broker, appraiser, auction house, other) and the contact. If the firm uses the Storehouses portal, they receive a connection request and you see Request sent until they accept; otherwise the record is simply yours to keep.
Under Professionals, each row shows its state — Connected · 1 assignment, Connected · no access, Request sent 3 days ago — with Manage and Assign.
Assigning work
An assignment is specific: which assets or collections, what the firm may see (values, acquisition, exact locations, documents), for how long, and what they are asked to do. Assignments end; a firm with none has no access even though it stays connected.
Firms with the portal
Advisory firms and estate managers who use the Storehouses portal see their connected clients in one place. For an encrypted account, accepting the connection seals a copy of your key to the firm; revoking the firm destroys it, instantly and completely, which is why revocation is final and reconnecting starts again from a request.
Where this is not the right tool
- Someone who works in your collection every day is a member.
- Someone who should inherit is an heir.
- Someone who needs one look at one thing gets a share link.
