Your account and signing in
Accounts are set up for you. How invitations, passwords, two-step verification, app lock and switching between accounts work.
How you get an account
There is no public sign-up. You arrive in one of three ways:
Storehouses sets up your account
When your agreement is in place, we create the account and send you an invitation. The email contains a link that lets you set your password; after that you sign in with your email and that password.
Someone invites you into theirs
An account owner or admin can invite you as a member — a spouse, an assistant, a household manager, a colleague at a firm. The invitation says who sent it and what role you will have. It expires if not accepted, and the sender can revoke it before you do.
You are designated as an heir
An heir, executor or trustee is designated in the owner's estate plan rather than invited. You get access only under the conditions the owner set. See Heir access.
One login, any number of accounts. If you are invited into a second account — your own and your parents', or several clients — you keep the same email and password and switch between them inside the app.
Signing in
Go to app.storehouses.ai or open the installed app. Sign in with your email and password. "Keep me signed in on this device" keeps your session between launches.
Forgot your password? Use Forgot? on the sign-in screen and we email you a reset link.
If your account uses encryption, your password also unlocks your encrypted data. Resetting it is safe — but if you lose both your password and your recovery key, the encrypted fields cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. Read Encryption before you turn it on.
Two-step verification
Account → Security → Two-step verification adds a code from an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy and the like) to every sign-in. We strongly recommend it; a stolen password alone is then not enough.
App lock — staying signed in safely
On phones and desktops, the app locks rather than signing you out when you have been away:
- after 30 minutes with another window covering it on a desktop, or 5 minutes in the background on a phone;
- after 60 minutes without any activity in the foreground.
Unlocking takes Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, a fingerprint, or your device passcode — not your Storehouses password — and your session, including your encryption key, is kept. The lock is on by default wherever the device has a credential. In Account → Security you can switch it off (the app then signs out instead), require biometrics only, or change the background grace.
In a browser there is no device credential to unlock with, so inactivity signs you out.
Switching accounts
Use the account menu (your name, top of the sidebar on desktop; More on a phone) to switch between the accounts you belong to. Opening one switches everything — assets, boards, members, settings — to that account; nothing from the other is visible.
If you belong to many accounts — an advisor with a book of clients — All accounts gives you one view across all of them. See Advisors and the Overview.
Sessions
Account → Security shows every device signed in to your account, with Sign out everywhere for when a device is lost. The security log underneath records sign-ins, password and key changes, and access grants.
